The Vintage Port Club
The Vintage Port Club was founded the 13th of September 1989 in Odense under the then Danish name: Den Fynske Portvinsklub. A handful of connoisseurs of good port wine had decided to found a club where high quality Port should be in the centre of the clubs’ activities.
The purpose of the club
The Vintage Port Club aims to promote awareness of Port wine in its various forms. The club holds an annual series of tastings for members and interested guests alike, thus enabling them to become acquainted with a variety of Port wines – young and old. In particular, the club has a focus on vintage Port and other types of quality Port.
Membership
No special prerequisites exist for memberships. Each member pays a subscription (as of this writing kr. 500, (67.05 €) annually. The subscription covers expenses for office, postage, housing, cleaning etc. Moreover the subscription also serves as a buffer for prestigious tastings. Each individual tasting is paid for by the participants, the amount varies from tasting to tasting.
