The Club organizes typically around six tastings during a season that runs from September to May. The themes for these tastings vary throughout the year. Such themes might be:
- Latest Vintage
- Prestige tasting of older wines, typically vintages and colheitas
- Horizontal tasting of one vintage, for instance wines from 8-12 different Port houses, preferably in better years
- Vertical tastings, i.e. Ports from one house over a series of vintages
- Tasting of single Quinta, i.e. from one particular vineyard
Tastings takes place in a relaxed atmosphere, where everyone present of course can partake and share his/hers points of view on the served wines.Often we have small presentations and introductions to the different wines and possible themes; and once a year we also hold our grand Winemaker’s Dinner, often graced with guests from Portugal. The various delicious dishes are prepared by splendid, local chefes and are of course accompanied by good wines and – Port! These gatherings always give ample opportunity to discuss the individual wines and Port in general.
Members of the club are first in line for these tastings and dinners, next comes passive members and guests.
